Legendary Producer, Da'Hammer, Has One Request On His Birthday

Da’Hammer, born Edward Nana Poku Osei, is a well-known Ghanaian music producer, rapper, and entrepreneur. He is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of hiplife music, a genre that fuses hip-hop and highlife music, which originated in Ghana in the early 1990s. As he celebrates his birthday this year, Hammer has made a special request to his friends and followers that has left many people inspired.

Hammer recently took to Twitter to share his thoughts about the plight of street-faring youth in Accra. In his tweet, he wrote: “As I traverse the streets of Accra due to my field work in several enterprises, I have built a rapport and friendship with the streets that has earned me a place as some sort of a figurehead for more than a few people on the streets these past years, to an extent where I routinely solve problems for people including those who aren’t part of my workforce… for the simple fact that they are voiceless and they can count on me to speak for them.”

Hammer went on to describe how he has supported these street-faring youth in various ways, including settling territorial feuds and tracking down hit-and-run drivers after accidents. He also mentioned how he has identified a group of extremely hardworking and selfless youth who are in need of a break from their daily grind.

Hammer's Tweet

For his birthday this year, Hammer has requested that his friends and followers support him in making a massive donation to this selected group of street-faring youth. He has expressed his desire to share his blessings with those who are less fortunate and in need of support.

We would gladly accept any support in cash or kind. Donors will be acknowledged publicly unless anonymity is requested. Please send cash donations to Image Vault Africa on 0597426614,” he added.

Hammer’s request has been met with overwhelming support from his fans and followers on social media. Many people have praised him for his selflessness and dedication to helping those who are less fortunate. Hammer has always been an inspiration to many people in Ghana and beyond, and his birthday request is a testament to his commitment to making a positive impact in his community.

As Hammer celebrates his birthday this year, let us all take a moment to reflect on his request and think about how we can also make a difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate. Let us join Hammer in his mission to help street-faring youth in Accra and make a positive impact in our communities.

Ground Up Chale partners, Roland to profile Ghanaian producers in new documentary

Ground Up Chale has partnered with Japanese electronic instrument maker, Roland to feature four legendary Ghanaian producers in their latest docuseries, ‘’Beats & Life’’. The four-part docuseries profiles hitmakers MOG Beatz, StreetBeatz, Mix Master Garzy and DJ Breezy as they provide exclusive behind-the-scenes access to their studios and tours around their respective hometowns.

These hitmakers’ production discography reads like a who’s who of the music industry, as they’ve worked with heavyweights such as Davido, Wizkid, Bob Marley, Teni, Shatta Wale, R2Bees, Kevin Gates and Sarkodie.

Founder of Ground Up Chale shared, ‘’This docuseries has been a long time in the making and I’m very happy that we can finally share it with the world. Afrobeat is taking over global airwaves right now and we wanted to celebrate the people who make and dictate the sound; the producers: MOG Beatz, StreetBeatz, Mix Master Garzy and DJ Breezy have been fundamental in laying the groundwork for this now-global sound’’.

‘’Beats & Life’’ is created by the creative agency FORM. Eph Yeboah, the founder of FORM and co-founder of GUTA, Ground Up Chale’s in-house creative agency added, ‘’We wanted to create a docuseries that deep-dived into the history of some of the architects of the Afrobeat sound. These are the people that make us dance, the energy givers. I believed that these people did not receive the recognition they deserved and I wanted to draw attention to them and highlight their contributions’’.

In the first episode of ‘’Beats & Life’, we join one of Ghana’s most celebrated music producers, MOG Beatz. In his episode, MOG takes us behind the scenes and shares insights into his journey as a music producer. From his early beginnings in the industry to his current success, MOG provides a candid and insightful perspective on what it takes to thrive as a music producer in Ghana and beyond.

The episodes will be released weekly on Ground Up Chale’s YouTube channel, with the first episode released on Monday, March 13, 2023.

Ground Up Chale is a creative hub and incubator for emerging music artists founded in Ghana, the driving force behind African youth culture, with offices in Ghana and London.

The decade-spanning career of AD DJ has been both inspiring, and fascinating to witness; having performed at some of the most talked-about events and parties in Ghana and abroad. That was why it came as no surprise that AD DJ owned 2022, using his resources to expand, evolve, and grow, while showcasing his craft and creativity in innovative and brilliant ways.

AD DJ was billed for every hot party that took place during the Detty December season, from Kruna to Front/Back. AD DJ performed on the big stage alongside international musical acts such as Burna Boy, Stonebwoy, and others as one of the main DJs for Afrochella 2022 (nowAfroFuture).

The AD DJ x YKTFV brand was plastered across social media platforms, assisting in the publicity of all must-attend events and shows..

With Addj’s momentum since the beginning of the year 2022, it was no surprise that he was booked almost every single day in December, as the holiday season is known for endless events, parties, and more. The People’s Champ, as he is widely regarded, had multiple triumphs in 2022 – some notably being his successful YKTFV events which took place in June and December of the same year. The renowned DJ also launched a YKTFV-inspired merchandise, paired with a display of a successful pop-up on two occasions – December 23rd & January 9th that had merch varying from t-shirts and caps. “My pop-ups for YKTFV Merch is something for the culture, and we’re going to grow bigger over time,” AD shared. “2023 is going to be a year of more wins, you just have to anticipate. One thing people should know is I have big things in the pipeline that are yet to come; we’re not sleeping in 2023.” Very passionate about his work, AD is relentless in the scheme of making a name for himself, and slowing down is not an option.

AD DJ landed one of his first major breakthroughs in 2014 thanks to his participation in YFM’s Campus DJ Competition, for which he was given the opportunity to exhibit his skills as an aspiring disc jockey. Not far down the line, The People’s Champ’s inclusion on YFM’s roster, alongside other top DJs and radio hosts, eventually led to him being the official DJ for the Y Campus Express for 8 year, currently he’s the dj for the ShoutsOnY show 12noon to 30 on weekdays.
