Ghanaian rap star Sarkodie joins forces with Afrobeats singer Olivetheboy on “Cold,” a romantic collaboration centred on loyalty, affection and the fear of losing someone special. The song brings together Sarkodie’s expressive rap delivery and Olivetheboy’s smooth, melodic vocals, creating a blend of Ghanaian rap and contemporary Afrobeats. Produced by Beatz Vampire, “Cold” is the second single from Sarkodie’s upcoming Deja Vu EP, following the title track featuring KiDi.
In his verse, Sarkodie reflects on how deeply love has affected him, making it clear that he does not want his partner to break his heart or walk away. He expresses his desire to build a lasting relationship, including meeting her family and being there whenever she needs him. He also encourages open communication, asking her to bring any rumours or concerns about him directly to his attention rather than allowing misunderstandings to grow. His declaration that he has loved her since the days of biblical Noah adds a playful touch to his expression of commitment. Olivetheboy carries the emotional theme into the hook, asking his partner to keep his heart warm and never allow it to become cold. His repeated plea gives the song its central message: love should be protected through honesty, reassurance and genuine affection.
With “Cold,” Sarkodie and Olivetheboy explore the vulnerable side of being in love, where affection comes with the fear of heartbreak and the need for trust. Their contrasting styles complement each other, as Sarkodie delivers detailed expressions of commitment while Olivetheboy provides a memorable melodic refrain. The result is a heartfelt collaboration about choosing someone, communicating openly and making sure that love does not turn into emotional distance.
