Quamina MP

Quamina MP, born Emmanuel Kwamina Amonoo on September 11, 1993, in Takoradi, Ghana, is a respected voice in Ghana’s hip hop and highlife scene. He grew up in Mankessim, where he completed his basic education before attending St. Mary’s Senior High School. He briefly pursued tertiary studies at a technology university but had to withdraw because of his family’s financial situation.

Rather than let that setback end his ambitions, Quamina taught himself to produce beats around 2014, choosing to commit fully to a music career. Music had been part of his life since childhood; growing up he was drawn to rap legends like Obrafour and Kwaw Kese, whose influence shaped his early style. He eventually left home for Accra with little more than determination and a connection to a friend working in a recording studio, often sleeping in studios while learning the craft.

His breakthrough arrived in 2017 when he connected with Ground Up Chale, a talent and management platform that helped launch his career through the hit single “Wiase Y3d3.” The song introduced his melodic, street-influenced flow to a wider audience and established him as a rising star in Ghanaian music.

Quamina MP has since built a catalog blending hip hop, highlife, and Afrobeat sounds, working with artists such as Kwesi Arthur, Kofi Kinaata, Medikal, and Fameye. He has also produced many of his own records, showcasing versatility beyond performing. He experienced personal tragedy in November 2020 when his father died in a road accident while they were traveling together, an event that has informed the reflective tone of some of his later work.

Known for anthems that mix party energy with candid storytelling, Quamina MP has performed at major Ghanaian concerts and festivals, cementing his place as one of the country’s consistent hitmakers heading into 2026.
