Akwaboah [Ghanaian Music Artist]

Akwaboah, whose real name is Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jnr., is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter and music producer known for his contributions to contemporary Highlife and Ghanaian popular music. He comes from a musical family and is the son of veteran Highlife musician Kwadwo Akwaboah, popularly known as Akwaboah Snr. His work combines singing, songwriting, instrumental performance and music production.

Akwaboah built recognition as a songwriter before establishing himself more widely as a solo recording artist. His songwriting credits include Becca’s “Daa Ke Daa” and DSP Kofi Sarpong’s “Ayeyi Ndwom.” In 2010, he won the Songwriter of the Year award at the Ghana Music Awards for “Daa Ke Daa.” He later contributed to projects by other Ghanaian musicians, including Sarkodie’s album Mary, working across songwriting and production.

As a solo artist, Akwaboah has released songs including “I Do Love You,” “Hello,” “Hye Me Bo,” “Posti Me” and “Forget.” His music frequently explores love and relationships, while drawing on Ghanaian Highlife and contemporary African music. His album Matters of the Heart, released in 2018, is among the projects in his discography.

Akwaboah has also collaborated with other Ghanaian musicians. His single “My Darling,” featuring Kwabena Kwabena, was released in January 2023 and produced by KC Beat. In May 2025, he released Live and Personal, a nine-track live project connecting his own music with the musical legacy of his father and grandfather, Master Bob Akwaboah.

Through his work as a performer, songwriter and producer, Akwaboah has contributed to several Ghanaian music projects while maintaining a strong connection to Highlife. His career spans songwriting for fellow artists, solo releases, collaborations and live recordings.
