Nigerian Afrobeats singer Mayorkun brings a playful approach to romance on “Home Training,” a lively single that celebrates the excitement of being with someone who brings out a different side of you. Produced by Fresh VDM, the song was released on October 30, 2026, as the lead single from his forthcoming five-track EP, Long Live, The Mayor! The release also marks a decade since Mayorkun broke into the music scene with his 2016 hit, “Eleko.”
In “Home Training,” Mayorkun admires a woman who is both classy and adventurous, expressing his attraction through playful Yoruba and English lyrics. He describes her as his angel and healer, using romantic comparisons and catchy wordplay to communicate how strongly she affects him. The repeated line, “Ko s’home training laleyi o,” meaning there is no home training tonight, gives the song its cheeky central idea. Rather than following the usual rules of good behaviour, he celebrates the freedom and spontaneity that come with being around someone special. The song captures the feeling of letting go, enjoying the moment and allowing romance to bring out your playful side.
The official music video presents Mayorkun as an artist painting a portrait of his muse in a bright, contemporary studio. Dressed casually in a white tank top, sunglasses and layered chains, he works on the canvas while the female model poses in a selection of stylish outfits. A saxophonist adds a musical touch to the studio setting, while playful interactions and dance moments between Mayorkun and his muse bring the song’s romantic energy to life. Directed by Oluwaferanmi Olonade, known as Mor, the visual complements the track’s light-hearted message about love, attraction and forgetting the rules once in a while.
