Produced by Pharrell Williams, the track explores survival, ambition and the difficult realities faced by people growing up in challenging environments. Kidjo brings her commanding vocal presence, while Pharrell and Quavo add their distinctive styles to the record.
The song moves between reflection and confidence, with its central message focusing on resilience and refusing to become a victim of circumstances. Quavo’s contribution adds a street-focused perspective, creating an interesting contrast with Kidjo’s uplifting delivery. The official music video, directed by Paul Hunter and filmed in Grigny, France, accompanies the release with Kidjo, Pharrell and Quavo appearing together. The new orchestral version also features Voices of Fire and a 50-member orchestra.
