The MTV Base always prepares a list of celebrities and make a pair of the best rapper, best dressed/ most fashionable celebrity in Africa etc.
Earlier last week, another list of hottest MCs was created for rappers in Africa and the MTV Base categorized it in countries. Ghana obviously had its share as it listed M.anifest, Sarkodie, EL, Worlasi, D black, Kojo Cue and the likes as the hottest MCs from Ghana.
#Ghana | #HottestMCs 2016
1 Manifest
2 Sarkodie
3 Omar Sterling
4 E. L
5 Pappy Kojo

7 Edem
8 Kojo Cue
9 Worlasi

Some entertainment lovers criticized their list and called it ambiguous and just when the buzz around it almost died, Wanlov, the kubolor who is a rapper, poet and an entertainer mostly known for his shrewd sense of fashion, did a song expressing his dislike with the list which was out.
He said a lot, but what was mostly punching was the fact that, he didn’t see why D Black was in the list. He further insinuated that his sister, Deborah Vanessa was a better rapper than the business mogul/ rapper D-Black.
Social media went crazy. People seemed to enjoy the trolls and others were amused that Wanlov could come at D-Black just like that since there was no earlier history of beef as against D-Black vrs Mutombo The Poet who had an encounter with D-Black in the past.
Days after, in a tweet which contained a soundcloud link, and a direct “@” to Wanlov, D-Black surprisingly replied Wanlov with a diss song, arguably because it sounded more like written words with rhyming. Some may call it spoken word.
@wanlov lol u wanted a lil buzz . Ok collect : https://t.co/tCCPDBp0LC #TheList
— #LIGHTWORK OUT NOW!! (@DBLACKGH) December 15, 2016
People are entertained as with several beefs happening all around, example Sarkodie-Manifest , Criss Waddle-Shatta Wale , Samini-Shatta Wale , all seemed to have been recorded on a beat but D-Black seemed to have switched the style up.
The arguments seems to be going back and forth, with D-Black calling Wanlov a DBee Kubolor, his ”shua” having more buzz than his career etc and Wanlov telling D-Black to go to the gym, stop being over ambitious by paying for twitter verification etc.
One person who seems to be serving the dessert in a hot plate is Mutombo The Poet. According to him, as a very close friend of Wanlov, He is disgusted with D-Black’s double faced personality. He also calls D-Black a fraud boy who owes him Adiddas Trainers.
We seem to be enjoying the beef so far. Currently, Wanlov, D-Black and his supposed diss song ‘The List’ is trending number one, two and three respectively.
Beatz Nation will bring you more exclusives as the story unfolds.

8 months down the line , Sarkodie had the cypher ready and had shot a video for the cypher which was directed by one of Ghana’s finest , Prince Dovlo. A day prior to the release of the cypher , Sarkodie even labelled it the ” Biggest Cypher outta the motherland”.
The song (both audio and video) were released , and under 4 hours it had already taken over and was Trending on social media…however an unknown fact which had gone undetected by all parties who worked on the song for over 8 months would be exposed.
Def Clef , the producer of the song would be accused on plagiarising the instrumental . It seems he bought it exclusively or bought it on lease and placed his tag on it to make it look like his . Whichever way you look at it, long story short , it looked like he did not produce or make the instrumental.
He seemed to have ‘taken’ it from SuperStar O and simply placed his audio tag in it to make it look as if he produced it.
SuperStar O – Dirty South Anthem Type Beat “My Destiny”
Sarkodie – Trumpet
The difference between Def Clef and SuperStar O’s instrumental is the producer tag. However , a quick look at SuperStar O’s beat store answers the question of how DefClef was able to get his tag on the instrumental. Regardless of which lease you buy , the instrumental comes Untagged.

“Exclusive Rights Sold Beats Are Removed From The Site. “
A closer look at the producer’s soundcloud seems to reveal another instance of a possible ‘Beat Jacking’

Sarkodie Revenge Of The Spartans
TYSON feat. JUICE – 24/7 HUSTLE (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
Def Clef has deactivated his twitter account and protected his Instagram page following the revelation.
Wikipedia defines Music plagiarism as
” The use or close imitation of another author’s music while representing it as one’s own original work. Plagiarism in music now occurs in two contexts—with a musical idea (that is, a melody or motif) or sampling (taking a portion of one sound recording and reusing it in a different song). For a legal history of the latter see sampling. “
.
SuperStar O is well known beat seller who has worked with many major artists & labels such as Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown, Ray Jay, Jim Jones, MTV, BET, MTV2, ESPN & many more.
Sources from Sarkodie’s camp as well as Ghanaian music producer , Fortune Dane , who worked on the song , have indicated that everyone , including Sarkodie was unaware of Def Clef’s “unprofessional” actions which could have some serious implications.
Assuming Def Clef has absolutely no right to the instrumental , it could mean that Sarkodie , is at risk of being sued by the owner of the instrumental and in effect , bar him from using ‘trumpet’ commercially.
Def Clef’s actions might also close doors on the chances of upcoming producers working with sarkodie.
@HomeWork_Gh @sarkodie @fortunedane I need to know what is going on here. Who bought my beat? And why is someone else getting credit for it

By Joseph ‘Aqweci’ Ofori
The Ghanaian music industry is one of the toughest industries to break through. I mean, you can sit down, analyze the taste of the people, predict the content that would make an instant hit, make classic music, release and promote it to the limit, but the reception of Ghanaians may never be met. I mean, Asem blew up with a non-commercial song at a moment of saturation of ‘jama’ songs, Afropop with a tinge of rap, and a few Hiplife songs. I mean, Pappy Kojo blew up with a Hip-Hop song when Afro-Dancehall was making waves. I can waste a sheet with abundant examples; the point is, when an artiste is able to break out with a not widely accepted sound and style, he deserves all the credit.
.
Medikal… who is Medikal? He’s just a good rapper with smart moves! The Sowutuom resident had songs buzzing moderately in the online circles. The 16 he delivered on “Pɛ Kakra” made his name known. However, he caught the attention of most with his most creative track till date, “Connect”.
The Unkle Beatz produced Hip-Hop song saw the rapper adapt to different styles of various popular rappers in the country – E.L, Joey B, Sarkodie, Omar Sterling, Criss Waddle, Kofi Kinaata and Yaa Pono. He executed so perfectly that it confused bloggers to the point of publishing it as “Medikal featuring ‘the artistes aforementioned”.
Then the public started to pay more attention. From then, he has proved that he can hold on to the mantle and not drop it any time soon.
.
He followed with videos to his street anthem, and dropped a whole lot of songs to enrich his catalog. I’m sure you wouldn’t go to a concert to see an artiste mime over just a single track.
He gained a significant number of hit songs to keep a crowd active for quite a while. The emcee climbed to the climax (no pun intended) when he featured the most decorated artiste of our generation, Sarkodie on his remix of “Confirm”.

If you follow his Twitter timeline regularly, you’d realize that he gets booked almost every weekend to rock a show or concert.
From campus tours to award shows and beach parties, Medikal has earned it! I wasn’t surprised to witness him throw himself to the crowd at Accra Technical University not just once, as they screamed “Poof Poof!”, “Swag!”, “AMG Baby!”. And oh, talking about Twitter, he recently got officially “blue-ticked” after his massive social media influence.
As an artiste in this new age, one of the most important things is to be relevant and be part of the conversation whatsoever. People have to talk about you; whether positive or negative. As success started coming his way, it wasn’t news that people would start gossiping about him, and start spreading rumors.
The youth have wondered if the accusations that he’s a scammer are true or false. They couldn’t envisage how he could easily employ Cupid to shoot at Deborah Vanessa.

Moguls and industry players, Joey B, Sarkodie, Bulldog, and the Hiplife Grandpapa, Reggie Rockstone have all commended him. He has received lots of love from fellow artistes, never hesitating to drop a verse, and if possible own a song.
He kickstarted a nationwide club tour and a high school tour. The metaphorical rapper is simply ubiquitous!
It came as no surprise to me when he bagged 2 nominations in this year’s 4Syte TV Music Video Awards. Forgive me if there are a few achievements I may have skipped or even don’t have information about, I’m only being human.
The New Artiste of the Year is the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Academy, Board and the General Public is the most promising and talented emerging artiste(s). The award goes to a relatively new artiste(s) who released a recording that FIRST shot the artiste(s) into the public limelight during the year under review.
Kindly read the definition again. Now please tell me who better deserves it than Medikal!

Joey B may not be new to the Ghanaian market but he certainly created a new sound which appeals to the international scene. Despite making past waves with the then trend, Azonto, Joey B rebrands himself with the new school of Afrobeats which seems like the new crave taking African musicians to the next level and definitely, Joey B is one artist to look out for in the future.

Akwaboah is that musician that comes from a family of music legends and so certainly, you will not expect anything less than pure class and excellence. His style of music is mostly soulful with a touch of African instrumentations. Sarkodie made no mistake signing Akwaboah… because i believe he will sharpen the Sarkcess Music brand towards that African sound that appeals not only to Ghanaians but to the international market. Let’s all watch out for him.

Although he is Nigerian , Mr Eazi has been living in Ghana since 2007 and calls his style of music ‘Banku Music’ , a genre characterized by laid back deliveries on majorly afro-soulful instrumentals. Honestly, the news about Mr Eazi been signed onto Starboy Worldwide wasn’t a surprise to me. Wizkid has an ear for a new sound which is making waves internationally and Mr Eazi certainly has that vibe that comes with it. Hopefully, Mr Eazi can adapt to modern variations that comes with music otherwise, he may sound monotonous but he is definitely one artiste to look out for to take Ghanaian music to the next level.

This guy came up with some buzz and after listening to Nukata as well as some songs he has done with a couple of Artistes, Worlasi is one talented guy whom I foresee doing great hooks for international stars like Jay Z or Dre and this is not even hype. It only takes hard work and consistency for such a young Ghanaian talent to be discovered. And if you think I’m exaggerating, please listen to Sarkastic which has The Highest Sarkodie on it. Thanks.

Next, Akan; His stage name sounds very powerful because of the history that is backed by it. Akan raps in popular Ghanaian dialect, Twi or Akan as people refer to. His flows are very deep and thought provoking. This young artist already has been able to put up a strong fashion sense which really works out for him. In my opinion, just a little direction and push from people who can may push this young Ghanaian rapper towards the world and trust me the world is not ready for him.
.
My article would have been quite shallow if I did not have a balanced representation of females doing very well in the music industry. Being a female writer, I would not have been fair leaving out some of the bright and fast-rising female stars we have in Ghana.
[one_third][/one_third] [one_third][artist postid=”4078″][/one_third] [one_third_last][/one_third_last]
The next will be Adomaa. She caught my attention when she begun her music career from making her versions of other people’s hit singles and this reminded me of the Pentatanix. In my opinion, that was a smart move of grabbing the attention of music lovers. I also admire her boldness of putting up her own concert – a bold step by her management and I give them a thumbs up for that. However, I would want to give out free advice to her, and as a fan, I think she should do more relatable and commercial music as certainly, Ghanaians and all music lovers have seen her zeal and direction towards music and we will all support when the need be.

Moving on, this young lady is someone I have so much respect for. Reminiscing a feature she did with Richie called London, I respect this lady’s hustle and patience in waiting for the right time to blow up and I believe the time is now- Adina. In my opinion, she found the right person/producer who understands her style of music and to bring out the best in her which happens to be none other than the legendary Killbeatz. As music lovers, we have seen magic made by the bond that exists between Artistes and their producers and I can give countless examples. Samini and Jam Master Jay is one, Asem and Richie is another and even R2bees and Killbeatz. To me, I suggest Killbeatz handles Adina for a period of time and establish her music as we all want it to be… because I believe Adina has so much talent and having her in the right hands will take her to the next level we all want her to be In.
I love Feli Nuna. I love her fashion sense. From her make-up to her combination of dresses to the way she carries herself about. She strikes me as one confident person and a ‘Daavi Diva’ as she describes herself. I believe her music touches you as you watch how confidently she performs it. She has a long way to go. But I believe in her seriousness, determination and that attitude which makes her strive for nothing but excellence. Way to go girl… the sky is your limit ????????
“Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you to one of the best candidate for the next MUSIGA elections. If he works hard, Ghanaian musicians may consider him. If not, they should consider a better candidate”.
Those were the words of the current president of the Musician union of Ghana (MUSIGA) ,Bice Osei Kuffour, known in showbiz circles as Obour. As he endorsed the candidature of music producer and sound engineer , Appietus , for the next MUSIGA elections.
In a video posted on Appietus’ official Instagram account, Obour jokingly endorsed the celebrated sound engineer as the next possible successor for the office of the MUSIGA President
.
Bice Osei Kufour alias Obour retained his seat as president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) on October 31, 2015. Obour polled 88 votes to beat his contenders Gyedu Blay Ambulley and Appiah Dankwa (Appietus) who polled 22 and 18 votes respectively.

News of the reputable honour done Okyeame Kwame in Cincinnati has climaxed with the institution of an annual celebration day in his reverence.
Mayor John Cranley has declared the 17th November of each year an ‘Okyeame Kwame Day’; to solemnise his status as International Cultural Ambassador to the city.
.
A presentation ceremony on 21st November, 2016 at the Renew Community Church saw the city Mayor applauding the artiste for his unprecedented efforts at fighting Hepatitis B, for which the Black Nurses Association recognizes.

“Now, therefore, I John Cranley Mayor of the great city of Cincinnati do hereby proclaim November 17th 2016 as your day!”
“And we want to make sure you always come back to Cincinnati and we have an open door for you. So we’re also giving you a key to the city”, he added.
.
The presentation of the key to the city signifies the beginning of a new day where the African is given recognition for their positive contributions to development. It represents a freedom of expression for the thousands of the residing Ghanaians. It is a symbol of trade, and cultural unity between Ghana (through the Ashanti empire) and Cincinnati of Ohio State.

The 17th of November of the ensuing years will see a collaboration between the artiste and various departments on culture and health agencies to inspire people through his music.
Earlier this year, Ghanaian investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and award-winning actor, Abraham Attah had been given given the keys to Massachusetts in recognition of their respective accomplishments.
The “Key to the City” is an honor bestowed by a city upon esteemed residents and visitors.
Okyeame Kwame joins a list of other celebrities; Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Tiger Woods, Kim Kardashian and several others.
