Afrane Frank, professionally known as Okese1, is a Ghanaian rapper and hip-hop recording artist. Born on February 21, 1997, in Accra, Ghana, he hails from Bonwire, a town in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal District located within the Ashanti Region. He completed his secondary education at Anglican Senior High School in Kumasi before pursuing tertiary studies at the University of Cape Coast.
Okese1 officially entered the mainstream Ghanaian music scene in 2020. His breakout moment came with the release of his hit single “Yie Yie,” accompanied by an official music video. The track gained rapid viral traction in Kumasi before spreading nationwide, eventually topping charts on major streaming platforms such as Boomplay’s Top 100. The commercial success of “Yie Yie” earned him a nomination for Hip Hop Song of the Year at the 2021 3Music Awards.
Following his breakthrough, Okese1 expanded his discography with several notable singles, including “Hustle” featuring Medikal, “Amount,” “Woso,” “Na Today,” “MOMO,” “Trapper,” “The Goat,” and “Opp.” His tracks blend energetic hip-hop beats with street-hop sensibilities and native linguistic influences.
Beyond his solo music releases, Okese1 serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Amotia Geng, an independent music group and movement he established alongside his Kumasi-based team. Additionally, he has held an association as a member of Arab Money Gang (AMG Business), the prominent music collective founded by Ghanaian rapper and entrepreneur Criss Waddle. Through his active releases and collaborative singles such as “Don’t Come Too Close II” featuring DarkoVibes, Sista Afia, and Joey B.
