Lasmid, born Ladsmid Nathaniel Owusu on May 24, 1999, is a Ghanaian singer, rapper, and songwriter from Takoradi. He rose to fame after winning MTN Hitmaker Season 8 in 2019, earning a GHāµ120,000 recording deal, and was later signed by producer Kaywa to Highly Spiritual Music.
His breakout came with the “Sika” remix featuring Kuami Eugene, followed by his viral hit “Friday Night,” which earned him Best New Artiste and Best Hiplife Song at the 2023 VGMAs. Known for blending Afrobeats, Highlife, and rap, he’s often called the heir to Kofi Kinaata’s legacy.
His single “Olivia” later became another major hit, surpassing 100 million streams on Spotify.
