AratheJay, full name Samuel Ofei Ankrah Badu, is a Ghanaian singer and songwriter. He was born in Ghana and grew up in Kenya, where he learned Swahili and was introduced to Jamaican music through people he met there. His experiences in Kenya influenced his appreciation of different cultures and music.
AratheJay began releasing music before establishing himself as a singer. His music journey started in high school, where he recorded his first single, “Spite,” at the age of 16. He also transitioned from rapping to singing during this period.
In 2024, AratheJay released his debut project, Finding Nimo Series: The Capsule, a nine-song release dated June 28, 2024. AratheJay later explained in an interview with Radio Universe that the “capsule” concept represented his intention for the project to provide healing and introduce listeners to his identity as an artist.
One of AratheJay’s notable 2024 releases was “Jesus Christ 2,” featuring Black Sherif. The song was released as a single on August 29, 2024 . It was later included on AratheJay’s 2025 album, The Odyssey.
AratheJay released his first full-length album, The Odyssey, on October 24, 2025, a 17-song Afrobeats release. The project includes collaborations with Stonebwoy on “Talisman,” Beeztrap KOTM and O’Kenneth on “Ahuofe,” and Kenyan singer Savara on “Say I Do.”
In 2026, AratheJay released the six-track EP CHRISTO DISCO.
