Renowned sound engineer and Musician Appiah Dankwah popularly known as Appietus has decided to help underground musicians with a new initiative that will see him record 100 new artistes for free.
His impact in the music industry is noticeable and would love to do more for the industry.
He intends to select 100 talented underground muiscians from each region that will later have the chance to record their songs in his studio . According to him he will need the assistance from all the chapters of the Musicians Union of Ghana ( MUSIGA) .
He will commence the program in the Volta next week. The aim of this project is to give up and coming musicians the needed push. According to him , the dreams of talented up and coming artistes are shattered because of financial restraints .
” There are so many good musicians in Ghana but financial restrains have stalled their careers since they don’t have the resources to record and promote their works. That is why I’m embarking on this project and to give them the opportunity to do what they love best” he said
The Chairman of the Ghana Music rights Organisation (GHAMRO) revealed that he will select 5 artistes to manage aside recording songs for them.
” Recording 100 songs is not easy because it takes a lot of creativity to be versatile.I have to make sure i don’t repeat beats to make them boring and that is why i have given myself enough time to do a good job”he said.
Appietus gained prominence from his signature ” Appietus in the mix ” . He is a force to reckon with in the music industry as he has produced hit songs like Azonto fiesta by Sarkodie, Otoolege by Ofori Amponsah, Obaa pa by KK Fosu, yesi yesi by 4X4 , Menseida by Daddy Lumba, Abuskeleke by Sydney, Front and Back by Castro et al.
Due to his versatility and hard work he has received a couple of awards. He has won best producer/Sound Engineer at the Ghana Music Awards in 2006, 2007, 2012 . In 2008 he won the best sound engineer at the UK Ghana Music awards.
