Mophty teams up with Siicie on “Odo Nti,” a Ghanaian song that explores the pain of loving someone who no longer seems to value the relationship. The title translates from Twi as “because of love,” fitting a story about the sacrifices people make to keep a relationship alive, even when the love they give is no longer returned in the same way.
In his verse, Mophty explains that he has been overlooking his partner’s recent behaviour because he loves her. However, he feels rejected by someone who once treated him as her beloved. He asks her to let him go if her feelings have changed, rather than continue to hurt him, reminding her that someone else may be willing to love him wholeheartedly. Siicie presents the other side of the conflict, describing how repeated hurt has left her keeping quiet and needing time alone. What once involved conversations about love has become a cycle of arguments.
Through “Odo Nti,” Mophty and Siicie capture the difficult point at which affection is no longer enough to sustain a relationship. One person is desperate to hold on, while the other needs space from the tension. The song reflects the importance of mutual care, honest communication and recognising when a relationship has become emotionally exhausting, even when feelings have not completely disappeared.
