Young talented Ghanaian producer Slimbo is a lot like reigning VGMA Artiste of the Year E.L.
Both are physically similar, tall lanky dudes. In fact following E.L’s new dreadlocks look, they both now spot the same hairstyle.

SlimBo, who is a known long time collaborator of E.L, having worked in the BBnZ Studios as an in house producer in the past, has some tricks up his sleeves. Reggie Rockstone doesn’t call him ‘the best’ for nothing, Grumps Morgan of the Morgan Heritage Band doesn’t endorse him for nothing, Hammer of the Last 2 doesn’t call him his heir for nothing.
The hardworking Slimbo was recently seen in a selfie with the BBnZ don E.L, the latter’s 5 trophies from the VGMA awards pretty visible in the background. Big question is: What are these two musical geniuses up to? Of course the possibilities are endless, perhaps they are cooking some monster beats together, which is quiet plausible considering the fact that they were spotted together in EL’s studio.
Whatever it is, the Ghanaian music fraternity and music fans alike should keep their fingers crossed, because whenever musical beasts like E.L and Slimbo are spotted, only hit tunes come out of the studios.

Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall Artiste Of The Year (VGMA 2016) and BET Award winner Stonebwoy has set the record straight regarding the false story circulating on many blogs and websites alleging him to have said a few words about Shatta Wale’s exclusion from this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA 2016).
The fake story quoted him to have said that ”
“We are not engaging in any beef, Shatta Wale is like my brother and I love him as brother and a friend. But what I have to say is that, he is a hard working Artiste in the industry and he deserves recognitions. I might say that, his absence from the awards is like a company without boss.”
He continued…………. – ??
“I must also said that not only the awards for artist of the year that makes you the overall Artists of the year but the your hard work and love in the country can tell too. Shatta Wale is the Artists of the year and everybody nominated for the category also deserves it.”
Stonebwoy took to social media to issue a disclaimer which said that none of the stories were true. He posted :

Ghanaian music producers Magnom , Fortune Dane and Kuvie graced Hitz FM’s “Showbiz This Week” (Show Business Week) on Saturday the 16th of April 2016 to discuss a range of issues regarding music production in Ghana.

To start off , the producers stated style/genres that uniquely identified their work.
Magnom: A fusion of AfroBeats with other genres
Fortune Dane: Trap
Kuvie: Afro Fusion
The producers talked about the importance of branding their productions using tags which served as a way of marketing themselves as the producers behind songs. Kuvie stated that it (tags) does a lot and for the layman, they get to know who magnom , fortune dane or kuvie is and at the same time helps artistes identify them by their works.

Speaking on what keeps the producers on top of their game and appealing on the music market, fortune dane indicated that he constantly learned from other producers . He cited trying to switch from hip hop to afro beats at point but it simply didn’t work out. Kuvie also stated that besides their style , the choice of artistes they worked with also helps them stay appealing . A higher ranking artiste boosts their brands.
Magom indicated that one of the frustrating things for a producer is the delay in the releasing of songs produced by them as they had little to no control over when productions would be released. He indicated that even though the artistes have timelines and plans which must be respected, its really frustrating for the producer.

DJ Keyzzz , who was nominated in the “Best Female DJ” category of the upcoming Ghana DJ Awards 2016 has turned down her nomination. She revealed this via a tweet from her official twitter account:
@_KEYZUZ which stated:
“ I acknowledge the fact that your outfit is doing its best to appreciate the work of DJs and would like to applaud you for that.
That said, i have never been a fan of the label “Female DJ” because women who DJ are not a novelty and i’d like to be acknowledged based on my skill and not my gender. Guys who DJ are just referred to as DJs and NOT “Male DJs”.
I also realised your award scheme has no category called “Best Male DJ” which validates my point that being female in this field is still treated as a handicap.
In that regard , being one of the “Best Female DJ” nominees does not strike me as a compliment and would like to politely decline the nomination. Thank You“ – DJ Keyzzz
