Olivetheboy (born Joel Ofori Bonsu on October 19, 2002) is a Ghanaian Afrobeats singer and songwriter renowned for his emotive storytelling and genre-blending sound. Hailing from Konongo in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, he attended Opoku Ware Senior High School and later pursued tertiary education at the University of Ghana. He began his music career in 2020, following his high school graduation.

Olivetheboy gained prominence with his debut EP, Avana, released in May 2023, featuring the hit single “Goodsin,” which became the most streamed Ghanaian song in the first half of 2023. His success led to a signing with Columbia Records via Bu Vision Entertainment, a subsidiary founded by Bu Thiam. In June 2023, he was named Apple Music’s Up Next Star, recognizing his rising influence in the music industry.

In April 2025, he released his sophomore EP, Out of the Blue, showcasing his growth as an artist and his ability to tap into diverse emotional experiences. The EP features collaborations with prominent African artists, including Sarkodie, Mayorkun, Qing Madi, Soundz, and Veola. Olivetheboy’s music continues to resonate with audiences, blending Afrobeats, soul, and contemporary pop to explore themes of love, vulnerability, and personal growth.
