Born in the leading industrial city of Ghana, Tema on the 7 June – eShun is the first child of her dad, Joseph Bosomtwi Eshun, in a family of six. She spends time in Cape Coast and Tema. She loves being in Church.
The story is told of the breakup of her parents, which required her leaving Tema where she was born. eShun decided to visit her church one last time before she moves with her dad to Kumasi. She entered and found a guy named Emmanuel Danquah inside the church rehearsing with the church piano.
The guy having heard that she sings with the Church Choir convinced her to sing just a song before she leaves. After the session with the church keyboardist, he coerced her to stay, to which eShun agreed after she convinced her Dad with the help of the head pastor of the church (Holy fire International Church) who was then a family friend. The Man of God agreed to take eShun through school and host her, and that was the beginning of the grooming of eShun’s so heart felt voice.
“It was this guy who made me think again about my singing talent”, she told Giovani host of ETV’s Celebrity Late Night Show.
At the age of 13, eShun started performing as a soloist in the Junior Gospel Choir at the Holy Fire Revival Church in Tema, Ghana, where it could be said eShun’s music talent was discovered. Her participation in two musical reality shows in the most populated country in Africa, Nigeria, has given her quite a following in Africa.
First, it was Mentor Season Five where she made it to the final and came out fourth. Then in 2011, she entered the MTN Project Fame in Nigeria where 19 contestants from across Africa took part. eShun was one of two Ghanaians who participated and she ended up at the fourth place.
eShun told Jeremie Van-Garshong of Live91.9 FM, a radio station in Accra – Ghana, that, “Getting into the reality shows has paid off because we are taken through voice training and stage performances so I have gotten better over the years.”
She participated in the first season of GLO X Factor Nigeria where she put up some electrifying performance which made one of the judges, Onyeka Onwenu, cried twice. Her excellent performance took her all the way to the final three which included Vicky and DJ Switch. She place second to the DJ Switch who was won the competition though eShun says she was cheated.
eShun was very appreciative of one Pastor Daniels of Herald Family chapel who she said encouraged her great deal along the way. She told Amanda Jissih of GHONE TV in Accra “He got the forms for mentor for me, and personally drove me to the National Theatre; the venue for the GLO XFactor auditioning. He still support me in all I do”.Other Users Are Downloading ...
