Jodiba ghanaian artiste profile

Ghana is famous for its colorful traditional festivals and durbars celebrated yearly in different parts of the country, and Moree is one of the numerous communities that celebrate those colourful festivals. Moree festivals, specifically, the Abangye festival which is celebrated annually between August and September to commemorate the protection of properties of Moree traditional warriors during the days of wars has not been celebrated for over 18 years due to chieftaincy disputes and lack of traditional authority. But a 20-year-old artist, Jodiba who hails from Moree believes in the power and significance of the Moree traditional festivals: the sense of enjoyment, relaxation and time needed to bond family members whom we never really see. So, he joins the like-minded people of Moree community with his bold new electric-festival song to fight to resurrect Moree traditional festivals while imploring on the elders of Moree to bury their pride and make effort to resolve the long-unsettled chieftaincy dispute.

Jodiba is giving his fans a new electric-afrobeat song titled ‘Ayeeba’ to provoke the lovely people of Moree to celebrate the traditional festival. ‘Ayeeba’ was written as a reminder to all the Moree people that there is a common thread that runs through all of us that if it is not broken, we are as strong as a broom that cannot be broken by anybody. Jodiba tells people, “I am a new artist who is yet to be unveiled to the world and I have over 15 new commercial songs to release one best from as a debut single. But I chose to release ‘Ayeeba’ as my debut single for the love of development of Moree. The 18 years pending chieftaincy dispute has created so many twists and turns that completely arrested the development of Moree”.

Released in August 2018, the ‘Ayeeba’ song attributed particularly to the people of Moree leaves the listener breathless and astounded by the traditional musical richness of Ghanaian coast. In ‘Ayeeba’ the singing and chanting with collective musical instruments of fishermen burst forth. Clearly, the penetrating sounds of colourful palette of metal instruments offset by complex drumming patterns with haunting vocals of Jodiba leaves the listeners immersed.

Happy Apple Friday!!!
